SOME ONGOING PROJECTS

SHELL Rhineland Refinery in Wesseling, Germany, will operate the world’s largest hydrogen PEM electrolyser. The electrolyser has a peak capacity of 10 MW (megawatts) and will be able to produce approximately 1.300 tonnes of hydrogen per year.

AQUAGAS is the supplier of the hydrogen purification system for the plant.

The hydrogen plant is manufactured by ITM Power and is planned to be in operation 2022.

HYBRIT (Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology) is a joint venture between SSAB, LKAB and Vattenfall, aiming to replace coal with hydrogen in the steelmaking process.

AQUAGAS is the supplier of the hydrogen purification system for the pilot plant in Luleå.

The hydrogen plant is manufactured by NEL and is planned to be in operation 2022.

Northvolt AB is a Swedish battery developer and manufacturer, specialized in lithium-ion technology for electric vehicles.

AQUAGAS has supplied a purification system for compressed air free of carbon dioxide for the pilot plant in Västerås already. At the moment 4 pcs of large scale units are under production for Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå.

The compressed air system is manufactured by Atlas Copco and is planned to be in operation 2021.

The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), a multi-disciplinary research facility based on the world’s most powerful neutron source.

AQUAGAS is the supplier of the helium purification system for the cooling system of the particle accelerator. Helium can as a cooling media be cooled down to -272°C, close to the absolute zero Kelvin.

The helium cooling system is manufactured by Linde Kryotechnik and commissioning is planned for 2022.
